There’s nothing chef Al Brown likes more than making people feel comfortable with food, conversation and Kiwi classics.
His latest cook book, Eat Up New Zealand, honours food from the past with updated takes on roast lamb, pies, flounder, pikelets, cheese scones, feijoa and tamarillo desserts, preserves and more. He even has a whole chapter dedicated to whipped cream.
A chef of the people – he’s not into formal dining – Al is all about sourcing New Zealand’s best fresh produce, cooking it simply and adding a flavour, texture or garnish to take it to another level.
The award-winning chef, owner of The Depot and Best Ugly Bagels, author of six cook books, former Masterchef New Zealand head judge and TV regular is all about celebrating the best that New Zealand can serve up, especially fish he’s caught himself.
Expect Al to be wearing his trademark cap for a jovial session about food, service and good times.
